My time as a second-hand bookshop owner

For ten years I was owner of "Muleposen" - a second-hand bookshop in Frederiksberg (part of Copenhagen where I also live). In many ways it was a period of much interest/joy, since second-hand bookshops of the type above, also serve as social centers for some kinds of people. A function I wasn't aware of before I started.
One could speak of 3 kinds of costumers:

  1. Random
  2. Regular
  3. Social "costumers"
Where the little income made on the first two categories partly were spent together with the last category.

Even though we played chess or cards (mousel or l'hombre) there were always time to service the two first categories!
It was a funny period of my life, where i learned to drink "brændevin" (destilled spirits) in amounts I hadn't experienced earlier, to play l'hombre and something about awkward people you cannot fit into society for various reasons!
Systems are fine, if fitted to people - not the other way round!
